File Types Statement

Texas A&M University's web sites provide information in a variety of file formats. Certain file formats require special additional software or "plug-ins" in order to be viewed. These links are marked with a file icon or file type name. We have provided links for downloading the most common plug-ins below. All of the following plug-ins are free to download and use.

FLV - Adobe Flash
View Flash movies and other Flash interactive content with Adobe Flash Player.

PDF - Adobe Reader
View Portable Document Format (PDF) files with the most recent version of the Adobe Reader.

MOV - Apple Quicktime
View Apple Quicktime movies and other interactive content.

DOC - Open Office
View and edit Microsoft Word (DOC) documents with the latest version of the Open Office suite.

XLS - Open Office
View and edit Microsoft Excel (XLS) spreadsheets with the latest version of the Open Office suite.

PPT - Open Office
View and edit Microsoft Powerpoint (PPT) presentations with the latest version of the Open Office suite.

MS Office - Downloads

Microsoft Viewers and Converters - for various versions of Microsoft Office files. Available for Windows only.
Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack - used to view files saved in the new Office 2007 formats.

JAVA - Java Runtime Environment
This software allows you to run certain internet applications that require the Java Runtime Environment.
